The little 'feel-out' video I put on social mediaāto see if anyone was interested...
And... they were! We're underway now!
You can join us anytime.
Ā š WHY:Ā
I have found somatic meditation is verrrrrrry practical.
At the end of the day, our body FEELS everything we are dreaming of or challenged by. And most of us discount those sensory feelings as secondary to how our lives unfold. I submit they are primary.
Iāve meditated every day for 23 years. Never missed a day. Not because I have any more willpower than anybody else, but because itās SO DAMN PRACTICAL! It helps me with lifeās challenges, gives me insights I wouldn't otherwise come up with using just my brain, and keeps me moving forward towards the things I want to create and do. I would be a very different person without it.
Plus, clients love it. It is the single-most thing I get the most feedback about over the years.
Ā š¤ What is 'somatic' meditation?Ā
For starters, there is one BELOWāso you can try it and see!
In practical terms, it means body-focussed meditation moreso thanĀ mind-focussed meditation. If you've not heard of it before, I encourage you to google 'somatic meditation' to read about it! It's fascinating!
I am far more a practitioner than a scholar on the matter, so here are someĀ definitions that google winkledĀ up that feel completely accurate to my experience with this tool, and why it works so darn well for a lotĀ of us:
"Somatic meditation is a body-based mindfulness practice that focuses on physical sensations, emotions, and the nervous system to cultivate a deeper connection with the present moment. Unlike traditional methods that may focus on the mind, somatic meditation uses the body as the primary focus, guiding attention to internal experiences like breath, tingling, and the feeling of tension or relaxation. This 'bottom-up' approach helps to regulate the nervous system, release stored stress or trauma, and promote a sense of inner calm and presence."
And another:
"Traditional meditation: Often uses a "top-down" approach, starting with the mind to influence the body. It may involve focusing on a mantra, visualization, or the breath to calm the mind.
Somatic meditation: Uses a "bottom-up" approach, starting with the body to influence the mind. It emphasizes sensing and allowing physical and emotional experiences to unfold as they are, rather than trying to control or change them."
Ā
š My goals for us:
-
DURING: An inner adventure together of the finest kindāexploring the inside of ourselves and our lives. New vantage points to discover the beauty and 'workings' under the 'hood' of life... where everything matters. Iāve found there are just some doors we really want to open that we canāt unlock with our brains alone. We need the whole body to do so.
-
AFTER: A Somatic Toolbox to serve you afterwards: you come out of it with a highly practical toolbox of somatic techniques and tools that you can bring to bear on the things in your life that matter most to you.

Want to try one of my meditations? š¤
Here you go!

This guided meditation isĀ about the topic of EASE...
and a way we might be able to experience more of it in our day-to-day work and life. The secret being inside us.
I do not mean ease as: laziness or 'doing nothing'.
I mean it as: an inner state (which maybe can be cultivatedāto experience more of) WHILE we do the things that matter to us.
Ease as the opposite of:Ā everything we are trying to do in our livesĀ feeling like rolling a boulderĀ up a hillālike poor auld Sisyphusāor swimming against the current with every stroke. The opposite of things taking enormous inputs of energy just to keep them ticking over, or maybe not working at all.
Let's see...
Intro.

ā¤ļø PS - A personal note from me.
Why I, personally, do this work with the Big Dream Program and the workshops within itālike this somatic club!Ā
I like to think of myself as a gardener, of sorts. I've spentĀ the last two decades working full-time with folks who are out there making ourĀ communityĀ and world - orĀ most importantlyĀ their inner world - aĀ kinder place. And watching these people over years, I'veĀ had a ring-side seat to see the beautiful ripple effects the changes they make (big or small)Ā has on others around them.
It's led meĀ to believe that the solutions toĀ our worldās problems, the many many many forms of beauty, music, art, peace, laughter and enjoyment, and breakthroughsĀ inĀ compassionate andĀ kind-to-our-planet living that we have notĀ heard of yet, but which will make life for all of us so much better...
Already exist.Ā
As seedsĀ deep in the hearts of people out there right now - on sidewalks, crossing kitchens, on the subway, walking a path, or reading my words now. Someone is dreaming of changing their life, another of teaching kids how to connect with nature, another of writing their memoir, anotherĀ to start growing their own vegetables with their family.
They feel this seed as a tugging in their heart. They feel its ācallā. It may not be selfish to pay attention to it. It may be the most unselfish thing we could ever do.
So that the kids growing up amongst us can know at least one person who has chosen to live life differently. That may be theĀ only thing they will need to unlock the seeds in their heart down the road. Knowing you.
IĀ would die a satisfied man if I couldĀ be a gardener in this world of such seeds.
